Does Omega Security Pro include antivirus protection?
Yes, it includes real selected-file antivirus-oriented scanning within browser/PWA scope and can optionally use server-assisted deep scanning with ClamAV signatures when ClamAV is actually available. It is not a native kernel-level antivirus/EDR service and cannot silently monitor every file or process on the device.
What is the difference between Antivirus Defence and Malware Defence?
Both analyse files explicitly selected by the user. Antivirus Defence uses the virus profile and can incorporate available server signature results. Malware Defence emphasises implemented heuristic indicators such as executable signatures, disguised extensions, encoded execution, command invocation, obfuscation and high entropy.
Are selected files automatically uploaded?
No. Local scanning stays in the browser. A selected sample is transmitted only when you deliberately activate an Online Deep Scan and the deep-scan setting is enabled.
Can Omega scan a folder?
On browsers that expose the File System Access directory picker, you can grant a selected folder. Omega can manually scan it and can periodically rescan it while the PWA remains open. Unsupported browsers fall back to explicit file selection.
What are the File, Malware and Virus Vaults?
They are application-local IndexedDB vault categories for controlled quarantine copies/records. Restore Copy downloads a copy, Mark Safe records the user's classification decision, and Delete removes the local vault item. The original operating-system file is not silently removed.
Does File Integrity detect changes?
Yes. The public PWA lets you explicitly create a SHA-256 baseline and later compare selected files with the latest stored baseline, reporting unchanged, modified and new files. The private server core uses a different rolling integrity-snapshot model with eligible backups and authenticated recovery actions.
Does Network Defence control my whole device firewall?
No. It provides Omega app-level link protection, local domain allow/block rules, online/offline status, browser network hints and same-site RTT. It does not intercept all traffic from other applications.
Does Omega read my actual RAM and physical-disk free space?
It reports only what browser APIs expose. Device memory is approximate where navigator.deviceMemory is supported. Storage values from navigator.storage.estimate() refer to the Omega web-app origin, not unrestricted total physical-drive capacity.
What happens offline?
Cached local-capable tools continue where supported. Network-dependent deep scans, website/DNS checks, breach lookups and RTT measurements remain visible but show the Internet Connection Required message.
Does it store my credential-vault master password?
No. The credential vault derives an encryption key locally from the master password and does not store the master password as a recoverable credential.
What is the private server security core?
It is a separate authenticated administrator system protecting Omega Security Pro's hosted files and infrastructure with integrity monitoring, malware/virus scanning, private server vaults, IP controls, hardening, backups and logs. It is not exposed as an anonymous public device-control surface.
Does Omega use a general-purpose URL reputation feed?
The current public code does not claim a general-purpose reputation database. Online URL analysis uses the bounded website-security endpoint for HTTPS, redirects and response-security headers; local phishing heuristics and the PWA link guard provide the implemented destination-risk logic.
